Not Seeing, but Believing

Queries:
Are radio waves seen?
Can you see gravity?
Can you see the wind?

Answer:
No and yet we know they exist.

The same thing goes for God. Just because you cannot see Him does not mean He doesn't exist.

You cannot always see a prayer answered, but that does not mean God is not listening. God is always working behind the scenes in your behalf. He may not answer it in your timing and may not answer it the way you would like it answered. God is God and He knows what He is doing.

We have become a society that wants everything instantaneously and God does not necessarily do everything with a snap of a finger---though He could. We need to trust and be faithful enough to wait upon the Lord.

Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Romans 4:17b
"God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;"

You will see in 2 Kings 6:8-17, that Gehazi, Elisha's servant, saw things with his natural eyes and believed the enemy out numbered them. Elisha then asked God to open Gehazi's eyes. He was then able to see with his spiritual eyes (heart) and realized that God's army far out numbered those of their enemy.

Our normal Christian life should be waiting patiently upon the Lord to bring the things of the spiritual into the natural. It is a faith walk not a sight walk.

Remember,"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 3:8

Pleasing Self

What does scripture say about pleasing ourselves? Are we suppose to endow ourselves with everything we can get hold of? Are we to feed our flesh with all that we see?

1 John 2:16 says, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world."
"But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts." Romans 13:14

We need to put our bodies into submission to our spirits. As new creations in Christ we must not allow our flesh to be in control. We must die to self and persevere in God.

"Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves." Romans 15:1
" We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren." 1 John 3:16

It is such a good feeling when we do things for others without feeling that they owe you one.
Giving with unselfish motives is so rewarding.

Lets do something nice for someone this week and reap the reward. You will get as much out of it as the person you did it for.

Blessings,
Shifra

Be of Good Courage

I was in a angry and funky mood the last couple of days and then yesterday morning I picked up the bible and started reading Joshua chapter one.
verse 6: "Be strong and courageous;"
verse 7: "only be strong and very courageous"
I really needed to hear these verses. It helped so much.

I know people say Christians should not have bad days, but we are still human. We cannot deny that we do not have troublesome times. We would be lying if we did, but we have God's promise that He will not leave us and that He will always be with us.

He promises to make our way prosperous and successful as we remain faithful to Him and His word.

Verse 1:9 of Joshua states, "I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Thank you Lord God for showing us how much You love us.

My friends be of good courage and strong in the faith.

Blessings,
Shifra
